Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how GoHooper, LLC ("LinkGenie", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit LinkGenie.com, use the LinkGenie app at linkgenie.net, or visit a LinkGenie page created by one of our users (together, the "Service"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, username and password, and anything you add to your profile (bio, photos, social media URLs or usernames, links and contact details you choose to publish).
- Payment information: when you buy a paid plan, our payment processors collect your card or account details. We receive limited details such as card type, expiry date and the name on the card, never the full card number.
- Communications: messages you send us by email, live chat, social media or phone, and your answers to surveys or forms (for example a newsletter sign-up).
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data: date and time of access, pages viewed and time spent, the referring site or search, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, language, and similar diagnostic data.
- IP address and approximate location: we use your IP address to work out approximate location (such as country and city) and for security. We do not store full IP addresses in our application database.
- Visitor analytics for LinkGenie pages: when someone visits a LinkGenie page, short link or QR code, we record aggregated and anonymised statistics (such as country, city, referrer, UTM tags, device, browser and language) so page owners can see how their page performs. We are interested in the "how", not the "who".
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy.
Location data
If you give permission, we may use more precise location data to provide or personalize features. You can turn this off in your device settings.
2. How we use information
- to provide, maintain and secure the Service, including your account, pages, short links, QR codes and analytics;
- to process payments and manage subscriptions;
- to provide customer support and follow up on your messages;
- to notify you about changes to the Service, and to send service and account emails;
- to understand how the Service is used, fix problems and improve it;
- to personalize your experience and show you features and offers we think you will find useful;
- to send newsletters and marketing about LinkGenie and other products from our family of companies, unless you opt out;
- to detect, prevent and address fraud, spam, abuse and technical issues, and to enforce our Terms of Service;
- to comply with the law.
3. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data because it is needed to perform our contract with you; because you have given consent (which you can withdraw at any time); because it is in our legitimate interests (such as improving and securing the Service) and those interests are not overridden by your rights; to process payments; or to comply with the law.
4. How we share information
We do not sell or trade your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers that host, operate and support the Service (hosting, email, analytics, customer support), who may use it only to work for us and must keep it confidential.
- Payment processors: the third-party payment processors that handle checkout for paid plans. They follow PCI-DSS standards and process your payment details under their own privacy policies.
- Analytics and advertising partners such as Google (Analytics and Ads) and Meta (Facebook), as described in our Cookie Policy.
- Legal and safety: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to comply with the law or a valid request from public authorities, enforce our policies, investigate wrongdoing, or protect the rights, property or safety of LinkGenie, our users or the public.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred. We will give notice before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Anything you publish on your LinkGenie page is public and can be seen by anyone with your link. Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot identify you may be shared for any purpose.
5. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy: generally for as long as your account is active, and afterwards as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Usage data is generally kept for a shorter period unless it is used to improve security or functionality or we are legally required to keep it longer. Page analytics history is kept according to your plan.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our servers and data are stored in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
LinkGenie is operated out of an office in Miami, FL. While all servers and data are stored in the United States of America, the processing and security of data is carried out by Australian personnel.
7. Security
Your personal information is kept behind secured networks and is only accessible to a limited number of people who have special access rights and must keep it confidential. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you by email and by in-app notice within 7 business days, or sooner where the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access, update and delete: you can view and update most information in your account settings, and delete your account at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to delete it.
- EEA/UK rights: you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
- California residents: under the CCPA/CPRA and CalOPPA you may request to know, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you will not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined by California law.
- Marketing emails: every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email info@linkgenie.com. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act: no misleading subjects or senders, ads identified as such, our physical address included, and opt-outs honoured promptly.
- Cookies and ads: manage cookies in your browser, set ad preferences at Google Ad Settings, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative or Digital Advertising Alliance.
To make a request, email info@linkgenie.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. Do Not Track
We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals. When your browser sends a DNT signal, we do not track you, place tracking cookies or use advertising on our marketing site.
10. Children's privacy
You must be at least 18 years old to create a LinkGenie account. The Service is not directed to children, and in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links to other sites and user pages
LinkGenie pages are created by our users and contain links to third-party sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Page owners may also add their own tracking pixels (for example Meta, Google, TikTok or LinkedIn) to their LinkGenie page; those are controlled by the page owner and the provider.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here, update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
